DXM Effects
The effects of
DXM are what occur when a person reacts to using dextromethorphan. When taken according to directions, products containing DXM produce few side effects and have a long history of safety and effectiveness as cough suppressants. When
abused in high amounts, these effects can include confusion, dizziness, double or blurred vision, slurred speech, impaired physical coordination, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, rapid heart beat, drowsiness, numbness of fingers and toes, and disorientation.
Shannon, 24, Talks About DXM Effects:

"I became promiscuous –
DXM made me completely lose touch with reality. I didn’t care about anything. I didn’t even care if I died. I thought my reasons for doing it were positive and I thought it did all these great things but that was a deception of the drug itself, because if you looked at my life from a realistic point of view – my life was going down the tubes."
"I tried to keep myself clean and I inevitably went back to doing the DXM, but it was always a struggle because I was addicted to it. As much as I wanted to deny that I was – I was. But now I know it’s wrong because I know people don’t want me doing it and I know my parents hate it and I know my boyfriend hates it and I know that everyone hates it except for me and it’s just a weakness. It’s a complete and total weakness. And even though I know as I purchase it that, ‘This is not good, this is wrong,’ I still give into it."
