DXM Trip
A trip is a slang term referring to the
effects DXM users feel when they take high doses of cough syrup or other DXM products. When “on a trip,” some users describe different "
plateaus" ranging from mild distortions of color and sound to visual hallucinations, "out-of-body" dissociative sensations, and loss of motor control, along with other side effects such as confusion, dizziness, double or blurred vision, slurred speech, impaired physical coordination, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, rapid heart beat, drowsiness, numbness of fingers and toes, and disorientation. One DXM trip can be different from the next – any have the
potential to be dangerous.
Shannon, 24, Talks About DXM Trip:

“I know that sounds so cliché, but don’t do it -- drugs are bad. Coming from someone that came from a good family, who did well in school, from someone who’s, you know, just like I was -- I’m as normal as they come – don’t do it. And I think I always thought that I could handle anything, you know? You can’t handle it and as much as you think you can handle it, you can’t handle it. It will consume you and even if it’s experimental -- it’s not even worth the trouble. Because anything might start out as experimental; that’s how it started out for me, just totally experimental. And I just became consumed with it because of my personality and the way I was. I was just drawn into it and I’ve done almost every other drug there is. And after doing every other drug, you know, doing mushrooms -- I always went back to the DXM, you know? And I would even do them together -- mix drugs and stuff. But I always came back to the DXM. And you know what? It’s terrible.”
